MisterCash

The payment method MisterCash, also called Bancontact/MisterCash, was developed by Belgian banks in cooperation with Atos Worldline. It is a system similar to Maestro. The MisterCash payment cards that are suitable for online payments are provided with the 3D Secure protocol. This means that an additional verification step has to be taken in order to authorize the payment. This decreases the risk of fraud.

We are applying two different rates for MisterCash. Please visit our rates page for an overview of the rates.

MisterCash - General Questions

Question Why should I accept MisterCash?

Answer Because the logo of MisterCash is stated on all payment cards in Belgium. So it has a trusted image. If you want to sell products or services online in Belgium, it is therefore important to offer MisterCash as payment method.

Question MisterCash is supporting which countries?

Answer MisterCash is only supported in Belgium. Currently there are no plans of expanding this payment method to other countries.

Question Which banks are supporting MisterCash?

Answer All bank cards in Belgium are provided with a MisterCash logo. Unfortunately, not all the cards are functioning online. There are also a number of banks that have switched to Maestro International for payments online. The owner of MisterCash and the Belgian banks are indicating that more than 90% of the cards with a MisterCash logo are suitable for making online payments.

Answer The 3D Secure protocol is a standard which is used for adding an additional verification step to the online payment process. Initially developed by Visa, but later also implemented by e.g. Mastercard, Maestro and MisterCash.
